The Good Life

When you’ve been around for as long as The Good Life, it’s important to switch things up and keep fans on their toes. Luckily, The Good Life has Tim Kasher at its helm — and his creativity knows no bounds. The band’s last album, 2007′s Help Wanted Nights, was not merely a record, but a counterpart to a screenplay that Kasher had written of the same name. Suffice to say, the album showed The Good Life at the top of their game and was their most narrative-driven record to date. Although they haven’t made much of a peep since then, they’re still hitting the road pretty hard. This summer, the quartet will play six shows in June before going dark again due to bassist Stefanie Drootin’s pregnancy. Chicago fans can rejoice in the fact that they will be the only ones that get not one, but two opportunities to see The Good Life live this month. (Appearing with Brighton MA and Quieting Syrup at Subterranean on June 4 and as part of Do-Division Festival with The Hood Internet, Pelican, Headlights, Sybris, Maritime, The Gunshy, Bailiff, The Night Marchers and Poison Arrows on June 5) –text: Anna Deem
