After his jarring first record with new wave band Adam and the Ants flopped way back in 1977, Adam Ant turned to Sex Pistols manager Malcolm Mclaren for help. Under Mclaren’s direction the band released the cacophonous Kings of the Wild Frontier in 1980, which was good enough to top the U.K. charts. On the strength of this, Ant went solo in ’82, releasing Friend or Foe from which the single “Goodie Two Shoes” launched him to international acclaim. With his fame waning by ’85, Ant returned to the top of the musical hierarchy in ’95 with the triumphant single “Wonderful.” Ever since, the indomitable artist has released some of his most ambitious work to date.
