People tend to have certain expectations about groups labeled with the dreaded descriptor of “jam band,” leaving hardly any room for surprise. But if you want something a little different with a heavy dose of flavor, take in some of the deep grooves emanating from the free-flowing, diverse instrumentation of Dos Santos: Anti-Beat Orquestra. They’ve only been on the scene since 2013, but have already rolled up praise from the Chicago Reader and NPR for their masterful way with mixing genres ranging from Cumbia to electronica to jazz. Listening to their latest EP Fonographic is a great new year’s resolution to give yourself, especially the track “¡Cafeteando!” which offers percussions that will be trapped in your head for months.
