Kermit Ruffins is as New Orleans as gumbo and zydeco, or as he says in his song “I’m So New Orleans” off his latest album #imsoneworleans, “I’m so New Orleans, I love Louis Armstrong.” It’d be hard to find someone more NOLA than the buoyantly trumpeting Ruffins, who was born and raised in the Crescent City and even played himself in HBO’s Treme as a recurring character. He and his jazz band The Barbecue Swingers (featured on the album) are a full-fledged party in your eardrums, especially in tracks like “Put Your Right Foot Forward.” He’ll make you wanna put everything forward, not just your feet.
