The Princess of Sad Pop is making her triumphant return to Chicago to mend some post-Valentine’s Day hearts. Considering she recently owned the stage at KISS FM’s Jingle Ball, it seems a pretty safe bet that she’ll dominate the House of Blues with songs from her latest album Lady Wood. Such songs include “Cool Girl,” “True Disaster,” and what will hopefully be her next single “Don’t Talk About It,” a playful anthem of secret affairs and hookups backed by slick production and Lo’s signature poetically blunt lyrics. Her latest songs are significantly moodier and more submerged than the dramatic “Habits (Stay High)” and fiery “Talking Body,” but they’re still as tantric as ever.
