Givers, Star Slinger, Jeff the Brotherhood, Fidlar, Chancellor Warhol, Moon Taxi, Bear In Heaven, and Aloe Blacc will be performing at Lollapalooza 2012 between 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 4.

‏GIVERS
‏Givers, made up of five scrappy college kids brought together by their love of music, perform the kind of songs that are peppy enough to make a person skip when they normally walk and catchy enough for a person to hum in their sleep. Their roots lie in New Orleans-style Cajun music, but they sound more like Vampire Weekend lost in the Louisiana bayou. Either way, hit them up for an espresso shot of indie rock. ‏As the universe is comprised of galaxies of planets, meteors and asteroids, so are the intricate layers of a Star Slinger beat with looping vocals, steady percussive rhythms and head-bobbing melodies. Among the freshest acts singed to Mountain Dew’s Green Label Sound, Star Slinger has been compared to hip-hop beatmakers like early Kanye West and the late J. ‏Jeff the Brotherhood are two brothers from Nashville who have kept true to their hard-rocking Southern roots since day one. The bros have crawled out of Music City armed with a pure aural assault of drums, guitar, and manic crowd-igniting energy resulting in a show you’d be hard pressed to forget. ‏FIDLAR
‏People like to pigeonhole Fidlar as a surf punk band, but this isn’t entirely the case due to their gritty, scratchy sound with a bit of Dick Dale thrown in. It’s also because their melody has just a bit of that experimental awesomeness that seized Brian Wilson and created The Beach Boys. ‏CHANCELLOR WARHOL
‏Nashville hip-hop artist Chancellor Warhol is not shy about his diverse influences. First, there are the titular homages to his iconic namesake, last year’s album The Silver Factory and the recent Playlist for Edie mixtape. Then there are his lyrical film references, ranging from Anchorman to The Hunger Games, and his remix of Gotye’s earwig hit “Somebody That I Used to Know.” Warhol’s fresh, clever production is sure to snag him more than his idol’s prophesied 15 minutes of fame. ‏MOON TAXI
‏Moon Taxi fuels itself with more than a little throwback power. Youthful riffs, videos captured via iPhone, streetside inspiration and observant eyes combine in what drummer Tyler Ritter calls their “high octane” vibes. The group’s feel-good retro tunes transcend back to the ‘60s and ‘70s, the golden decades of musical creativity. While you’re jamming out to their 2012 album Cabaret, their easy strings and trancelike refrains will erase all shame about uttering the occasional adjective “groovy.” (Saturday, 2:10-2:50, BMI Stage) –text: Jessica Millman

‏BEAR IN HEAVEN
‏One of the best qualities of experimental rock is that, without a driving tune to mark the time, each sound, blip or vocal turn is completely intentional. Bear In Heaven employs this out of time (and space) element to create a warm, gravitational feeling to its music. Yes it’s experimental, but it has purpose. ‏ALOE BLACC
‏Part of the hip-hop/R&B scene since the mid-‘90s, rapping soul crooner Aloe Blacc has proven himself quite the versatile talent — having collaborated with a myriad of artists while developing a successful solo career of his own. From collabos with France’s Jazz Liberatorz and Japanese producer Cradle to the Lootpack crew and his chart-stomping single “I Need A Dollar,” Blacc continues to wow us all with his map-melding musical skills.
