Chromatics

Chromatics are one of indie rock’s best-kept secrets. In April, their fourth album Kill for Love (on Troubleman Unlimited’s dance imprint Italians Do It Better) cemented their reputation as a band on the rise — despite nearly ten years in the game. You may recognize their downtempo/electronic side from their song “Tick the Clock” that was featured in the all-star Drive OST. Chromatics are a digitally-enhanced rock band from Portland who maintain a true affinity for rock music that makes other electronic rock acts look like they’re just cashing in on a fad. Lead singer Ruth Radelet will steal your heart with her beautiful voice, complemented with spacey synths in the vein of dream-pop gods M83. Chromatics channel some of their bubbly songwriting and simple, stripped-down guitar riffs from dance rock forefathers like New Order while keeping things modern with a more Raveonettes-style approach to their love songs.
