This Swedish troubadour’s rise to glory is the stuff of indie pop lore. Legend has it that Lekman came upon music at the age of 14 after being asked to play bass in a friend’s band. Within a few weeks, he was writing original compositions. A year later, American indie stalwart Sufjan Stevens’ Secretly Canadian label released his critically acclaimed debut When I Said I Wanted to Be Your Dog in ‘04. However, it was 2007’s Night Falls Over Kortedala that really brought Lekman into the collective indie consciousness. Teasers for his latest opus, Life Will See You Now, are keeping the magic alive.
