For Americans unfamiliar with Nottingham punk-addled hip hop duo Sleaford Mods, the most apt comparison is a cockney version of Run the Jewels. Taking cues from punk acts like Sex Pistols and The Clash, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Fearn kicks it in the background manning the ones and twos as the band revives classic Brit rock bits with taut, heavy basslines and purposefully meager drum machine beats peppered throughout. This is not to mention the band’s classic English ‘80s-era beta blips and bleeps, over which vocalist Jason Williamson bollocks busting vitriolic stanzas full of sly working-class wit which slice their way through themes of British politics and policies.
