Allison Crutchfield played in the band Swearin’ before releasing her debut solo album in 2014. Now as one of the newest musicians to sign with Merge Records, Crutchfield has branched out from the embryonic stages of her friendly and inoffensive indie sound to experiment with a different bag of toys. She’s playing around with more synths on this first Merge release that she crafted on the tour circuit, which has taken her to Chicago several times in the past year. Also worth checking out is a recently released P.S. Eliot album that she plays drums on alongside her twin sister and Merge Records labelmate Katie Crutchfield (a.k.a. Waxahatchee).
