BORN RUFFIANS
BY JASON OLIVA
Born Ruffians recorded their first album Red, Yellow & Blue (2008) as precocious freshmen, with the follow-up Say It (2010) resembling something the newly post-pubescent trio matured into after leaving school. And with that sophomore effort, the Canadian trio have since evolved into a fully mature multi-dimensional quartet with some serious veteran chops. With songs theming on social alienation, decoding human communication and the glamour of rap culture, Born Ruffians have come a long way from the frantically uncontrollable yelping of their youth. Next stop: facial hair.
