LAND OF TALK

Beginning her performing at the tender age of 14 under the moniker ELE_K, Land of Talk frontwoman Elizabeth Powell had amassed a good amount of live performance skill before she would go on to enroll in the jazz program at Concordia University, a place which would eventually welcome the birth of Land of Talk. The band released the EP Applause Cheer Boo Hiss in 2006 under Canadian indie label Dependent Music before being signed to Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst’s Saddle Creek Records in 2008 to release their debut full-length titled Some Are Lakes. Produced by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, the album received near-unanimous acclaim and was followed by Cloak and Cipher in 2010. After an absence from touring and no new musical releases since 2011, Powell and company released the new track “Inner Lover” in February of this year, taken from their new album titled Life After Youth released on May 19.
