Staying true to the definition of post-punk revival, White Lies are a dark-edged trio committed to the stripped-down and back-to-basic sounds of modern guitar rock. Combining influences from bands like Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen, this London-based triumvirate marries a sound heavy in synth with an echoing string section and razor-sharp percussion, all of which is then counterbalanced with the somber and introspective coos from lead crooner Harry McVeigh. White Lies take all the right cues from London’s post-punk and new wave revivalism to flawlessly execute their sound in an infectious and dance-ready rock ‘n’ roll package.
