For those of you who remain fans of the alt-grunge sound of the ‘90s, you can finally put away your old cassette tapes. Just pop in the 2016 release Disappearing in Airports by Candlebox, one of the greatest guilty pleasures from one of the worst eras in modern music. Candlebox never stopped recording but their sound did grow into the slower, softer ballads that were on their famous 1993 debut self-titled album with songs like “He Calls Home” having a definite line of contact with the new album. As the band members rotate, so does their sound on songs like “The Bridge,” which starts out with Foo Fighters-style guitars yet the pleading lead vocals from Kevin Martin can never be misconstrued.
