Although never becoming a superstar with her music, Aimee Mann boasts a fan base that bullets can’t penetrate. First starting her music career playing in the new wave band ‘Til Tuesday in the ‘80s and coming a long five years since 2012’s Charmer, Mann is dropping her ninth solo album Mental Illness this spring. She’s respected amongst indie music fans for having hits such as “Voices Carry” and “That’s Just What You Are” (not to mention her own label SuperEgo Records), as well as being an actress with cameos in such hipster cult favorites as The Big Lebowski and Portlandia. Yeah, that’s right: acting is this badass crooner’s side hustle.
