Making its way out of Austin for nearly two decades, The Octopus Project has been blessing us with their experimental indie pop sound since 1999. They gained wider popularity in 2006 when a fan entered them in a contest Coachella was holding on MySpace where voters could nominate their favorite band to fill an empty slot the festival had, all without The Octopus Project’s knowledge. Playing numerous festival gigs since, the band combines pop elements with the electronic sounds of keyboards and synthesizers to make wonderful beats that perfectly complement the band members’ angelic voices.
