Formed in Los Angeles in the early ‘90s, Tool are pioneers in the alternative heavy metal movement. From the very beginning, the band was effortlessly able to combine mid-paced guitar riffs with melodic, abrasive vocals and opaque lyrics as never done before (or since). The release of their second album, AEnima (1996) went triple platinum and solidified the band’s success in musical experimentation, often combining contradictory sounds of both soft and heavy or gentle and intense. Years later, the band has won three Grammys, has performed worldwide tours, and has produced records topping the charts in several countries. More importantly, Tool recently announced in a U.S. tour after a nearly 10-year hiatus.
