Danny Brown was an easy choice for a prime slot at Pitchfork this year. The Detroit rapper of XXX fame is still touring his fourth and most recent album, Atrocity Exhibition. While the former may have earned him loads of acclaim, the latter is his magnum opus featuring some of the famously gap-toothed MC’s finest work to date. “Really Doe” unfurls some of the fiercest verses he’s written, all of which are accompanied by a truly sinister beat, while “Ain’t It Funny” showcases both his signature wit and temperament. Clearly the fun-loving former drug dealer has grown exponentially throughout the last 10 years. From getting out of prison in 2007 to getting a mid-performance blowjob at a Minneapolis gig in 2013 to releasing his best album in 2016, it has been quite the lengthy journey to reach this point. His incredible stage presence and manic personality make his concerts must-see events. Even when he keeps it in his pants.
