Everybody’s favorite indie pop band is coming to Lollapalooza. This much we know. But what really can be said about The Shins that everybody doesn’t already know? James Mercer’s vocals are perfect for the sort of poppy-yet-dramatic songs The Shins have made famous and while some albums that musicians release into the world are a mess, The Shins know exactly what they’re doing so you can just kick back let it play the whole way through. Oh, Inverted World? Chutes Too Narrow? Wincing The Night Away? Every album’s got the perfect assortment of pop favorites which could have each song listed as a single. Though more recently steering their direction away from the cute indie bunnies and birds world into the “we sell blacklight posters now on our website” arena, The Shins are too good to let anything upset their equilibrium. New album Heartworms was released in March, so start memorizing those lyrics now.
