Founding member and one-third of The Beastie Boys, musician/rapper Mike D will be performing an hour-long DJ set for Saturday’s Riot Fest attendees. Following the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch in 2012, Mike D continues to make music and perform regularly yet strays away from performing as The Beastie Boys out of respect for his bandmate’s death. Mike has been continuously sharing music with listeners young and old, recently upping his game through new means of communication. Mike’s Beats 1 Radio show The Echo Chamber is an interesting new platform for him to discuss music with various artists in the business. Recorded in his home Marc Maron-style, the semi-monthly episodes give us a glimpse of what it’s like to have such an expansive knowledge (and interest) in music. Let’s hope that shines through during his DJ set, which will surely include nods to his past, present, and future.
