It’s no surprise that Bear’s Den — stars of the documentary Austin to Boston — have toured with the likes of Mumford & Sons, as the folk rock band sounds strikingly similar to their musical protégé. Beyond touring partners, Ben Lovett of Mumford helped the group form their label Communion Records in 2006, releasing their debut album Islands in 2014. However, Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones do more than merely dwell in the lengthy shadow cast by their more famous indie folk contemporaries. The duo embodies its own lyrical edge with a seductively rich, emotive, and melodic trajectory.
