Lucy Dacus made a music video for her song “I Don’t Want To Be Funny Anymore” and within hours, she had record labels and executives from all walks of life clamoring for her to sign with them. From recording the album to signing with Matador, only six months had past. Her band plays dark garage tones sung by what sounds like a finishing school graduate from the 1960s. It may all sound proper and pretty at first glance, but if you peeked under her mattress you might find a pack of unfiltered cigarettes and a dirty old biker magazine.
