Whatever you do, don’t miss this set. If nothing else, you owe them respect as they were influential to most of the bands you listen to (even though you probably don’t know it). The chief reason for this outsized influence is their lyrical and melodic genius that, in breaking down the scene in 1990 with Unfun, was able to capture their point of view on life, love, friends and everything in between. If you caught this band at the right age, they were everything your little world could handle. Snotty and sneering, jealous and lonely, broken and carrying on, rebellious and volatile, it was everything you were feeling and probably still are. It’s been over 20 years and they’ve gone on to start other bands and projects, but it’s the convergence of this band in the late ‘80s that created the stigma and magic that still hangs around them today. Best viewed alone with a box of memories.
