This band is walking history. Formed in 1983 in New Orleans, Rebirth Brass Band has been uncorking their trademark ass-shaking combo of funk, jazz and soul for over 30 years now. A rotating line-up of musicians is the norm with this always-evolving crew, but Keith and Philip Frazier remain two of the original members alongside more famous founder Kermit Ruffins, who still jams with the band regularly. The essence and fun of this group is not who is in the band, however, but how they make the audience groove. Popular in their hometown thanks to regular gigs at iconic NOLA venues like The Maple Leaf but with a well-established fan base nationally, Rebirth won a Grammy in 2011 for “Best Regional Roots Music Album.” But they don’t care about any of that. They care about making you dance, and making you smile while doing so.
