Since her 2008 debut breakthrough, Thao Nguyen has been thrilling audiences with her infectious rhythms, delightful discordance, and authentic songwriting as the lead vocalist of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Nguyen began songwriting on the guitar as a pre-teen, with her musical ambitions continuing through college. During studies, she formed The Get Down Stay Down and the band saw quick success touring after graduation. Her 2005 solo album Like the Linen led to a tour with Laura Veirs and an ongoing collaboration with Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards. While releasing four studio albums to date with her main band, Nguyen has collaborated extensively with artists from Andrew Bird to Mirah.
