Zeds Dead is the playful moniker of electronic music masterminds Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan. The Canadian duo has carved quite a name for themselves in the EDM world with minimalist beats, slick production, and a slew of guest singers and rappers turning their stark sounds into massive hedonistic sing-alongs. The group formed in 2004 under the name Mass Productions, changing their name to Zeds Dead in 2009. They quickly gained a following in the underground Toronto scene through a weekly party dubbed Bassmentality, which served as a clearinghouse for discovering up-and-coming DJ talent. The duo has released a total of six EPs and one studio album called Northern Lights but, as with most electronic acts, it’s all about the live show. And with manic energy and delectable beats, these guys don’t disappoint. Let’s put it this way: If you’re wearing a hat when you enter the Perry’s Stage, you best hold onto it.
